The English word object is used to translate the following Sanskrit terms:

  • viṣaya (T.yul ཡུལ་) - defined as "that which can be known with the mind" (blos rig par bya ba).
  • ālambana (T. dmigs pa དམིག་པ་) - epistemological object
  • artha (T. don དོན) - a polysemous term that, in some contexts, is translated as "object" or "thing"
  • grāhya (T. གཟུང་) - the object of perception, as presented in the Yogacara tradition
