Surendrabodhi was one of a group of Indian scholars invited to Tibet during the reign of King Ralpachen (early ninth century). These Indian scholars assisted the Tibetan translators with the translation of Buddhist texts from Sanskrit into the Tibetan language.[1]

He is listed as the translator of forty-three texts and was one of the small group of paṇḍitas responsible for the Mahāvyutpatti Sanskrit–Tibetan dictionary.[1]
