adhyātma vidyā (T. nang don rig pa ནང་དོན་རིག་པ་; C. nèi-míng, 內明). One of the "five sciences" (pañcavidyā) of ancient India. Translated as "inner science," "inner knowledge," "self understanding," "self-development," "doctrinal studies," etc.
In Buddhism, adhyātma vidyā is understood as knowledge of the three pitakas and the twelve categories of teachings of the Buddha.[1][2]
In general, "inner science" refers to working with one's own mind.
