Piṅgala (C. Qingmu 青目).[1][2] A fourth century Indian scholar who wrote a commentary on Nagarjunaʼs Mūlamadhyamakakārikā.[2] He is mentioned in the preface to that work by Sengrui.[2]
Piṅgala's commentary is included in the Zhong lun ("The Middle Treatise"), along with Kumarajiva's translation of the Mūlamadhyamakakārikā and Kumarajiva's own notes.[1]
Piṅgala was regarded by the Sanlun zong as their sixth patriarch.[2]
