Steps to Liberation (T. thar ba'i them skas). A treatise by Jigme Lingpa on mind training (lojong) according to the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism.
This text is an expansion of a short text by Longchenpa, which is itself a commentary on a very short (one page) text by Garab Dorje.[1]
In this tradition of mind training, one trains in bodhicitta by contemplating the following seven topics:[1]
- impermanence
- fleeting and lasting happiness.
- the various circumstances that lead to death
- the pointlessness of all mundane endeavors
- the virtues of the Buddha
- the instructions of the guru
- non-conceptuality
